Yard Work

We leveled out the ground back along the fence. There was about 3 feet gap between the were the grass ended and the fence was that consisted of river rock, weeds, and piles of dirt that we smoothed out and put down sod. Our task now is to make sure the grass is watered enough so it stays green since we have had the irrigation turned off and on and the sprinklers have been also readjusted and moved back alongside the fence. What a task!

We finally decided to do a little landscaping alongside the pavement were the bark is by adding in seven little bushes that will get has big has two or three feet tall and about three feet wide and produce tons of little flowers on them. We actually had three trees here that were dying so we took them out a couple of years ago and have not put anything else there until now.

I am excited we finally started a garden. We had always talked about doing one, but have never gotten around to it until now, which was very spontaneous. It took us all day on Labor Day to just rototill the areas of ground where the plants were going to be with a shovel and rake. It actually took us three weeks from start to finish to pull weeds, smooth out the mounds of dirt, and sort through those weeds and put in a fence so the kids couldn’t get to the plants. Bailey thought the plants were flowers and decided to pick two of our cucumber plants. We originally had 4 cucumber plants. I am proud to say we now have 8 tomato plants, 4 zucchini plants, 2 cucumber plants, and 1 cilantro plant, which we have already used a little bit of the cilantro to season our tacos with. Yum!!!
